Mesa County Federal Mineral Lease District Awards Fall 2017 Grants
GRAND JUNCTION, CO – The Mesa County Federal Mineral Lease District (MCFMLD) named the 2017 Fall grant award winners on Wednesday, October 11, 2017. The Board voted and approved grants totaling $303,726 for public entities in Mesa County.
The award in the Traditional Grant Program totaled $135,064 and went to:
- Clifton Fire Department for the Clifton Fire Station in the amount of $135,064;
Awards in the Mini Grant Program totaled $168,662 and were made to:
- The Town of De Beque for Stewart Avenue Street Improvements in the amount of $50,000;
- Caprock Academy for Classroom Door Locks in the amount of $18,662;
- Town of Collbran for a patrol vehicle in the amount of $50,000;
- Grand Junction Fire Department for HazmatID Chemical Identifier in the amount of $50,000.
Entities eligible for these programs are limited to the state and its subdivisions. Grant awards are evaluated through a scoring process that examines important factors such as ability to address the impacts of energy extraction, long-term value, and sustainability of the project

The MCFMLD serves a mission to enhance positive social and economic impact in Mesa County from the development, processing and energy conversion of fuels and minerals leased under the Federal “Mineral Lands Leasing Act” through strategic grants, partnerships and leadership.
